Christophe Humbert from Path to SharePoint has been providing many thought provoking SharePoint solutions on his site over the past year. In this live online, hands-on workshop, he will walk you through one of his most popular solutions, the "Easy Tabs Interface".

SharePoint 2007 comes with tabs that build up the top navigation. In this presentation, we'll explore another kind of tabs, those that help structure and prioritize information within a single page. The Easy Tabs Interface is a simple, drag and drop solution embedded within a Content Editor Web Part. It draws content from existing web parts on the page and then exposes the content of those web parts through tabs, while hiding the original web parts. There is no need for deployment and no server code needed to implement the solution.

Through business examples - company information, reporting, etc. - we'll explain how tabs increase the flexibility and readability of your SharePoint pages. We'll also demonstrate how to customize the default Easy Tabs Web Part to fit your specific needs:

  • change the look of the tabs to match your Web site design
  •  spread the tabs across two rows
  • exclude some Web Parts from the tabbed interface

All the scripts/Web Parts needed for these customizations will be provided to the participants.

"The hands on training along with following your lead, helped me get more confident in working in SharePoint."

Mick [Simple Site Planning: Get it right the first time!]
"Anybody who has worked at SharePoint knows that if you get your planning right then you can save yourself a lot of work. I thought the impact of the workshop was kept high by having a live customer, this technique delivered a healthy slug of reality to (the) proceedings."

Urs [Fundamentals of SharePoint Lists and Libraries] "Very professional work. Thanks to Mark and his team. The workshop format with the hands-on lab made the 3 hours webconferencing event a valuable experience for me."
